Quick Start

Continual is designed to be set up and running within an afternoon. This guide takes an Admin from access through to the first completed check and the first activity review.

If you are completing checks rather than configuring the platform, start with the Operator Quick Guide. See Role-Based Paths for other roles.

Prerequisites

  • A Continual organisation with at least one Owner or Admin. See Access & Sign-In if you have not joined yet.
  • Access to the Continual portal.
  • The mobile app from the App Store or Google Play.
  • A basic understanding of your factory, Line or Group, and machine structure.

Setup In 6 Steps

1. Create The Factory

In the portal, go to Settings -> Factories and create the factory. Set its timezone, shifts, and default check grace period before creating schedules.

Expected result: The factory opens with empty Lines and Groups sections.

2. Add Lines, Groups, And Machines

Add sequenced production Lines or unordered Groups, then add the machines where operators will perform checks.

Expected result: The hierarchy uses names operators recognise, sequences production-line machines correctly, and avoids imposing an order on Group machines.

3. Define Formats

For production lines, define the product or configuration formats that affect targets and changeover checks. Groups do not use formats.

Expected result: Operators can select the current line format, and checks can use format-specific targets.

4. Create Initial Checks

Go to Operations -> Checks -> Definitions. Start with a small set of high-value CIL and centreline checks.

Expected result: Each check is assigned to the correct machine, has the intended trigger, and appears in a sensible sequence.

5. Invite And Validate

Invite the team from Settings -> People. On the mobile app, select the factory and complete one passing check, one failing check, and one permitted skip.

Expected result: Results appear in Operations -> Checks -> Activity, and the failed result raises the expected action.

6. Review Performance

Use Operations -> Checks -> Activity for individual instances and Analytics -> Insights for trends.

Expected result: You can identify completed, missed, skipped, late, passing, and failing work for the factory.
