Shutdowns
Shut down a production Line or Group when it is temporarily not running, such as during planned maintenance, a seasonal stop, or an extended changeover. Shutdown pauses new scheduled work without removing the Line or Group from the factory or losing its history.
Use shutdown for a temporary operational pause. If a Line or Group has been permanently removed from service, archive it instead.
Who Can Do This
Owners and Admins can shut down and reactivate Lines and Groups from the portal. Managers and Operators can see the shutdown status but cannot change it.
Shut Down A Line Or Group
- Go to
Settings->Factories. - Select the factory and open its Setup tab.
- Find the Line or Group you want to stop.
- Turn on the Shut down switch.
- Review the warning and select Shut down to confirm.
Continual displays a Shut down badge in operational views, including the portal dashboard, Operations -> Formats for production Lines, and Line or Group selectors in the mobile app.
What Happens To Checks
When you confirm a shutdown:
- Upcoming pending check instances for machines in the Line or Group are cleared.
- New scheduled check instances are not created while the Line or Group remains shut down.
- Work that is already due and historical check results are preserved.
- Check definitions, machines, formats, actions, and reporting history remain in place.
This prevents expected downtime from creating new missed work while keeping the operational structure ready to use again.
Format Changes During A Shutdown
You can still change a production Line's active format while it is shut down. The active format and format change history update normally, but the change does not create On Format Change check instances until the Line is operational again.
This is useful when preparing the next product or configuration before restarting the Line.
Reactivate A Line Or Group
- Return to
Settings->Factoriesand open the factory's Setup tab. - Find the shut-down Line or Group.
- Turn off the Shut down switch.
The shutdown badge disappears and new check instances resume according to the configured schedules and future format changes.
