Manually Triggered Checks
Use a manually triggered check when work should become due only after an operator decides it is needed, rather than at a scheduled time. This is useful for occasional pre-start checks, post-maintenance verification, or equipment that only runs on some days.
Manual is a check trigger type, not a separate check kind. A manually triggered check can still be either a CIL check or a centreline check, with the usual instructions, targets, evidence, results, and action behaviour.
When To Use A Manual Trigger
| Need | Best trigger |
|---|---|
| The operator starts the check only when a machine will be used | Manual |
| The check must happen at a recurring time | Periodic |
| The check must happen at the beginning of a shift | At Shift Start |
| The check must happen whenever the product or setup changes | On Format Change |
Manual checks work on machines in both production lines and Groups.
Who Can Do This
- Managers, Admins, and Owners can create a check with the
Manualtrigger in the portal. - Operators and other mobile users who can complete checks can trigger the manual checks available on a machine.
Create A Manually Triggered Check
- In the portal, go to
Operations->Checks->Definitions. - Select the factory, Line or Group, and machine.
- Choose
Create Check. - Select the check kind:
CentrelineorCIL. - In the scheduling step, choose
Manual. - Configure the target, instructions, reference media, and evidence requirements as normal.
- Review and create the check.
The check does not become due when it is created. It waits for a mobile user to trigger it on the machine.
Trigger And Complete The Checks
- Open the Continual mobile app and select the correct factory.
- Open the
Checkstab, then select the Line or Group and machine. - Tap
Trigger manual checkson the machine screen. - Start and complete the newly due checks using the normal check flow.
The button appears when the machine has at least one active check configured with the Manual trigger.
One trigger starts every manual check on the machine
Tapping Trigger manual checks makes every active manual check on that machine due. It does not let the operator choose one definition from the set. Configure the machine's manual checks with this behaviour in mind.
What Happens After Triggering
- Each active manual check on the machine gets an open due occurrence.
- Triggering again while an occurrence is still open does not create a duplicate.
- The checks remain due until they are completed; they do not become missed.
- Manual checks do not count against timeliness metrics.
- Submitted results appear in
Operations->Checks->Activityand can create actions in the same way as scheduled checks.
Common Problems
The Trigger Button Is Missing
- Confirm that you selected the correct factory, Line or Group, and machine.
- Ask a Manager or Admin to confirm that the machine has an active check using the
Manualtrigger. - Pull to refresh after a check was created or updated.
- Reconnect to Wi-Fi or mobile data; the app needs an active connection to load and submit checks.
Triggering Did Not Add Another Check
An occurrence is already open for that manual check. Complete the existing due check first. Triggering is intentionally idempotent so repeated taps cannot create duplicate work.
Only One Manual Check Should Run
The trigger applies to every active manual check on the selected machine. If the checks should not start together, review how they are assigned before rollout.
Expected Result
The operator can deliberately make the machine's manual checks due, complete them immediately, and see the submitted results in portal activity without creating duplicate or missed occurrences.
